Hawtpixel is a small design studio previously based in Dundee – Scotland, currently based in Nara – Japan. I create fonts & games for PC & mobile. Please follow me on Twitter & Facebook to keep up to date with all of my latest projects!
Darrell Flood is the founder & Director of Hawtpixel, forming the company in 2016. He spent most of youth art contracting online for small games companies, hopping from country to country. He recently wrapped up an extended stint in Dundee, Scotland, where he had been working fulltime for YoYoGames for 5 years. Darrell specializes in game concepting, level design & art (though he also dabbles in font creation, writing & board games in his spare time).
Maiko Taketani joined the company in a Translation/Localization capacity in the Summer of 2016. Maiko has traveled extensively & lived abroad for long periods. She specializes in teaching & language acquisition, & provides true-to-tone Japanese translation work for all of our major projects. She also playtests all WIPs, providing critical feedback, and handles voice acting on larger projects.
Jack Oatley works in a freelancing capacity on major Hawtpixel projects. Having quit education at an early age, he went on to become a coding legend. He had been working at YoYoGames for over 4 years, before deciding it was time to brave the “indie dev” path. It was at YoYo that he met Darrell & forged an eternal alliance. Jack specializes in Programming, putting out far cleaner, clearer, faster code than Darrell ever could (while managing to enter a ridiculous amount of game jams in his spare time).
